Mind and body connection

This session explores the mind–body connection and introduces practical somatic techniques to support mental well-being. Through guided learning and embodied activities, participants learn to recognize stress in the body, practice grounding and regulation strategies, and use bodily awareness as a source of strength during moments of emotional overwhelm safely.

Age: All ages

Language Level: Intermediate (Level 4–5) English Proficiency 

Participant Benefits

  • Understanding the Mind–Body Connection: Participants gained a deeper understanding of how the mind and body are connected and how this relationship influences mental well-being.
  • Recognizing Stress in the Body: Participants strengthened their ability to identify physical signs of stress and recognize changes in their bodies before stress becomes overwhelming.
  • Somatic Stress Management Skills: Participants learned and practiced five somatic resourcing techniques using the S.C.O.P.E. approach to support self- and co-regulation during stressful moments.

Recommended Art Materials

  • Large Chart Paper. Spread across table to ensure participants are able to access.
  • Writing Utensils including large markers, pencil crayons, oil pastels, pencil crayons etc.  
  • Masking tape to secure the large piece of paper.
