Creative pathways to healing: Art, story, and community belonging
How can creative practices open new pathways to healing, connection, and belonging for immigrant and refugee families? This question sits at the heart of an upcoming rich, visual, and story-driven webinar that brings together two community-based teams, one from Montreal and one from Toronto, who are using art as a powerful tool to support families at risk of experiencing gender-based violence (GBV).
This webinar offers a rare opportunity to learn about arts-based programs rooted in community care across two major Canadian cities, and how these initiatives help participants build connection, safety, and a sense of belonging. By centering creativity, storytelling, and cultural expression, these programs create accessible pathways for families to engage, heal, and integrate into their communities.
Participants will hear directly from the facilitators behind Hubs of Expressive Arts for Life (HEAL) Project in Toronto and Art et contes in Montreal. Through visual storytelling and lived experience, facilitators will share what inspired their work, the lessons they’ve learned along the way, and the moments that have stayed with them, moments of courage, transformation, and connection.
This session goes beyond theory. It captures the nuances, challenges, and possibilities of arts-based interventions carried out with deep commitment to community needs. By spotlighting real stories and creative processes, the webinar highlights how art can become a bridge, connecting families to themselves, to one another, and to a renewed sense of belonging.
Join us for an inspiring conversation that reimagines healing through creativity, and celebrates the role of community-driven art in fostering safety, resilience, and hope.
